Two employees qualify to join our dimensional inspection team

As part of our ongoing commitment to training and development of our staff at PI Castings & Turbotech, We are proud to announce that two members of our team have been awarded their City & Guilds level 2 certificates for Coordinate Measurement Machines.  The Training and certification will allow our staff to join our in-house Dimensional Inspection team and are now able to carry out the inspection of castings to the desired standards before they are dispatched to our clients.

The Inspection and Quality department at PI Castings is integral to our production operation and as an Aerospace approved foundry, we have to ensure that every investment casting manufactured is dimensionally accurate and complies fully with the clients and all necessary engineering national and international standards. The two new additions to the team will help us meet our increase in demand for high precision complex castings and ensure that we are able to rise to the challenges of the future as the business grows.

Neil Shaw, our Managing Director stated:

“At PI Castings we encourage the use of Apprenticeships as a means of developing engineers, managers and leaders of the future. PI Castings are committed to the development of young people by the adoption of professional apprenticeships.”

One of the two new additions to the Inspection team is part of our PIC Apprentice programme. Andrew McCann, one of the apprentices at PI Castings, expressed how pleased he was to have “PI Castings invest in his professional development”.

The second member of our team to gain their coordinate measuring qualification is our Quality Engineer, Sean Curley. Sean has been with PI Castings for three years and he is delighted to be adding additional skills to aid him in his role.

“Being able to carry out dimensional inspections will be very useful in my role as Quality Engineer; The new qualification enables me to ensure our castings conform to our customer’s drawing requirements, complete AS9102 Form 3s myself and provides the company with yet another inspector to ensure our customer’s castings are despatched in time to meet their delivery deadlines.

I am looking forward to continuing building my professional skills in the future through the other development opportunities that PI Castings offer.”

We take great pride in developing the skills of our workforce and we are extremely proud of Andrew and Sean for obtaining their coordinate measuring qualification. We have every faith that they will be fantastic additions to our dimensional inspection department, and that their contributions will help us continue to meet our customers’ requirements and help PI Castings grow and build upon its excellent reputation for manufacturing and delivering high quality investment castings.
