Cast metal rapid prototype patterns shown next to a pen for scale produced by Precision investment castings

P. I. Castings is a leader in the production of cast metal Rapid Prototypes having been involved for 30 years since the first stereolithography machine arrived in Europe. Only a couple of independent investment casting companies in the UK have their own Rapid Prototyping equipment and we are one of them!

P. I. Castings can take your CAD designs and turn them directly into a model, which can be used to produce investment castings in our usual range of metals including Aluminium, Steel, Stainless Steel, Brass, Bronze and Zinc.

Apart from using patterns produced by our own 3D Printer, we have made thousands of castings with most other Rapid Prototyping techniques, including Stereolithography, Quickcast, Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) and rubber mould methods.

There is no single technique which is suitable for all investment casting applications and we will advise you on the most suitable to produce your component.

Although casting patterns can be produced relatively quickly – usually within a week, depending on the required quantity – all of our Rapid Prototypes are cast using the process that would be our final production process for your component. This allows us to ensure that our high standards can be maintained, and that you will receive a casting that has good integrity and properties that will be the same as those created in final production. You will receive more than just a proof of concept for your design; by having a Rapid Prototype produced with us you will also receive a proof of concept for our casting process.

As with final production commissions, our customer service focus means that we will do our upmost to achieve production requirement times. Our team is dedicated to working with you in order to help you realise your designs and complete your projects in a manner that works for you.
